The studio
About Glitch & Gloom Studios
An independent game studio in Surulere, Lagos, making games of every kind, starting with a horror game about a legend we grew up with.
The name
Two halves of one mark
Look at our emblem: one G is solid brushed metal, the other is coming apart in streaks of static. That's the studio. Glitch is the playful side: experiments, broken rules, the lo-fi look and the surprise when something doesn't behave the way you expect. Gloom is the depth: atmosphere, mood, and stories that stay with you.
Some of our games will lean one way, some the other. Madam Koi Koi is about as gloomy as we get.

What we believe
Our stories deserve to be played
- RANGE
Any genre
Horror is where we started, not where we stop. Each game gets the genre, tone and length its idea needs.
- ROOTS
Stories from home
Nigeria and West Africa are full of stories, places and humour the wider world hasn't played yet. We tell them from the inside.
- RESPECT
Shared heritage
Legends like Madam Koi Koi belong to everyone who grew up with them. We only claim our own telling: the story, characters, art and sound we create.
- REACH
Made to run anywhere
Our games run on modest hardware. A good game shouldn't need an expensive graphics card.
- PRIVACY
Counts, not tracking
No accounts, no ads, no cookies. We count downloads and visits anonymously, our games collect nothing, and the waitlist is opt-in.
- CRAFT
Small and finished
We would rather ship one short game that works well than promise a big one.
First steps into the school
Work on Madam Koi Koi begins: a corridor, a door, and a pair of heels.
She learns to listen
Hiding places, breath holding, recorded heel footsteps, an adaptive score, and chases instead of instant deaths.
The story takes shape
The opening, the evidence, the dead students, the yard, and the settings and saves screens.
A real Windows game
Fullscreen desktop build, installer, and settings for low-end PCs.
Madam Koi Koi launches
Our first game is out, free on Windows.
Where we are
Made in Surulere, Lagos
We're a small team working out of Ajoke Street in Surulere. Lagos is loud, bright and never sleeps, and a lot of that energy ends up in what we make.
